An Experimentation

The last few years have been about exploring, playing with new forms and experimentation with new mediums. I am continually challenging myself to create new work and open my mind. I am not worried about the end result, I am more concerned about what I gain from the experience. Whether I am leaving home to see a new place, picking up a new tool or collaborating with another artist, I believe the artists journey never ends. I’ve strayed from my comfort zone—all to soak up as much information as possible, and then returned to my studio to empty out my finding in new forms of art.

I frequently work to a large scale and feel this is something I too frequently revert back to. It is a comfort zone that I too easily step into. So, today I have picked up my brush and started exploring smaller scale works. I am working with watercolours in an abstract form. It is a completely new medium and abstract art is something I have always been very fond of but unsure how to approach. Here is to new beginnings!

In doing this, I hope to push my work even further. I don’t know exactly where this is going to take me, but it’s a part of the process and I wanted to share it with you.

I have an idea that the only thing which makes it possible to regard this world we live in without disgust is the beauty which now and then men create out of the chaos. The pictures they paint, the music they compose, the books they write, and the lives they lead. Of all these the richest in beauty is the beautiful life. That is the perfect work of art.
